One of the very best analysis I’ve read on General Petraeus’ resignation.
Global Research, November 22, 2012
The headline stories claim that CIA Director General David Petraeus resigned as head of the CIA because of an adulterous relation with his young biographer and that General John Allen, Supreme Commander of US troops in Afghanistan, was under investigation and his promotion to top commander of US troops in Europe was on hold, because, we are told, of his ‘inappropriate’ comments in the exchange of e-mails with a civilian female friend. We are told that a ‘hard-charging’ local FBI agent, Frederick Humphries, Jr., had uncovered amorous e-mails sent by General Petraeus to his girlfriend-biographer in the course of investigating a complaint of ‘cyber-stalking’. Out of concern that the General’s ‘adulterous behavior’ posed a risk to US national security, Florida-based FBI Agent Humphries handed the evidence over to one of Washington, DC’s most powerful Republican, Congressman Eric Cantor, who in turn passed them on to the Director of the FBI… leading to Petraeus resignation.

In other words, we are asked to believe that a single, low-ranking, zealous FBI agent has toppled the careers of two top US Generals: one in charge of the principle global intelligence agency, the CIA, and the other in command of the US and allied combat forces in the principle theater of military engagement – on the basis of infidelity and flirtatious banter!

Nothing could be more far-fetched simply on prima facie evidence.

US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Martin Dempsey made news over this week by calling an Israeli-led attack on Iran foolish if attempted anytime soon. Israeli officials aren’t impressed, however, and are responding with words of their own.

Netanyahu called Gen. Dempsey “a Servant of Iran.”

Gen. Dempsey denounced a strike on Iran in the near future as “destabilizing” and “not prudent” over the weekend while speaking to CNN in regards to America and Israel’s effort to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear warhead. Israel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has now addressed that statement himself, calling into question the US official’s intentions.

Netanyahu is now suggesting that the US is adopting policies that will favor Iran, and not their historical ally: Israel.

Israeli newspaper Haaretz (“The Land”) is reporting that PM Netanyahu had harsh words for the JCOS commander, saying that his on-the-record comments over postponing any strike are remarks that “served the Iranians.”

“The Iranians see there’s controversy between the United States and Israel, and that the Americans object to a military act. That reduces the pressure on them,” a senior Israeli official adds to the paper.

Over the weekend, Gen. Dempsey discussed allegation of war against Iran, which have only escalated as of late. Over the past few months, the US has mobilized its military around Iran and has made plans for a massive missile exercise in conjunction with Israel for later this year. As Iranian/Israeli hostilities continue to amount, however, Israeli officials have repeatedly stated concern over America’s reluctance to act already on Iran.

American intelligence believes that, if Iran is indeed developing a nuclear weapon as rumored, they do not stand to finish their research anytime soon. In the interim, the US hopes that diplomatic talks and negotiations will thwart that research before it matures. Israel, however, appears much more concerned and has condemned the US for not acting on the offensive already. Last month, Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon explicitly called the Obama administration “hesitant” in their unwillingness to attack, which was followed by a warning only a day later by the nation’s Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, in which he urged the US to “move from words to deeds.”

Discussing whether an attack on Iran seems worthwhile for the US military right now, Gen. Dempsey told CNN on Sunday, “A strike at this time would be destabilizing and wouldn’t achieve their long-term objectives.”

Separately, US Defense Intelligence Agency Director Lieutenant General Ronald Burgess said last week that Iran would more than likely NOT act on the offensive anytime soon. “Iran is unlikely to initiate or intentionally provoke a conflict,” Burgess told a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, adding that an Iranian-led military action against the US would only be likely if the United States fired first.

The missile drill scheduled by American and Israeli forces was originally scheduled for this spring, only to be postponed and then rescheduled for later this year. Israeli sources speaking to foreign news outlet Debka alleged that the decision to put the program on hold was a move made by Netanyahu based on ongoing worries that the US will back-out of an otherwise-coordinated joint strike on Iran.

Today the Israel Lobby Archive releases declassified Justice Department documents that shed light on how US based covert operatives for Israel obtain near complete prosecutorial immunity.

After leaving the OSS , Nahum Bernstein quickly deployed his covert operations skills for Israelby forming front organizations to smuggle arms and wire-tap opponents in the United States. Mastermind Bernstein escaped the felony charges and prison sentences awaiting lower level operatives through his prosecutorial immunity networkwhich stretched from New York City police officers on his payroll, his District Attorney law partner, up to the President of the United States (through associate Abraham Feinberg).

Bernstein’s declassified file, like associate Abraham Feinberg’s, sheds light on the model by which subsequent US operatives entered the Israel lobby’s prosecutorial immunity network.

*Declassified 2010* J.W.Fulbright – Early in 1961 Senator J. W. Fulbright, chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, secretly chartered an investigation utilizing the Senate’s full subpoena power. A declassified committee charter reads:

In recent years there has been an increasing number of incidents involving attempts by foreign governments, or their agents, to influence the conduct of American foreign policy by techniques outside normal diplomatic channels…there have been occasions when representatives of other governments have been privately accused of engaging in covert activities within the United States and elsewhere, for the purpose of influencing United States Policy (the Lavon Affair).

Fulbright’s committee focused on averting future repeats of such operations as an Israeli false flag terrorist attack on US facilities in Egypt (Operation Susannah) about which few Americans had ever heard. His committee’s investigation into the Israel lobby ultimately forced the reconstitution of the American Zionist Council into AIPAC.

Today the possibility of Israeli false flag attacks and operations geared to influence policy have triggered growing American suspicion about pretexts for the Iraq war such as “Niger yellowcake” affair and the current “Iranian Used Car-Cartel” assassination plot. Fulbright’s warning is both timely, prescient and informative.
